MagPie

February 6 - 9

Bainbridge Performing Arts and our partners at Bainbridge Island Theater Lab (BitLab) bring you MagPie, written by local author Catherine Rush and directed by Rachel Noll James.

It’s 1978. The Sixties are over and Reaganomics is just around the corner. At the Pierson School, a private boarding school for girls, Maggie Guthrie and Peggy Norris are roommates and best friends. Unwittingly, Peggy finds herself in the middle of a tug-of-war between the past and the future when a lecherous music teacher, two well-meaning counselors, a domineering new dean of students and a 12-year-old Iranian student all converge and explode.

What is the Studio Series?

Intended to compliment BPA’s Mainstage program of large-scale productions and musicals, our Studio Series presents an ongoing collection of more intimate plays, developed in collaboration with outside partners like BitLab, and performed here at BPA in the new Cynthia Sears Studio. This collaborative model allows BPA to support local theatre makers, by providing vital resources such as performance and rehearsal space, production support, and administrative infrastructure, and use our platform to amplify the amazing work created by artists in our community.
